NAB Gets 15 More Reps To Fight Performance Royalty

The NAB continued to aggressively combat the Radio Performance Royalty bill by attracting 15 more lawmakers to sign on to a bipartisan U.S. House of Representatives resolution opposing the introduction of "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local stations. Total Congressional support for The Local Radio Freedom Act, which opposes the RIAA-lobbied royalty bill, is now at 173.
'Fat Cat' Spots Created
NAB also unveiled a new 60-second radio spot opposing the performance tax effort. The "Don't Feed the Fat Cat" spot will begin airing TODAY on WASHINGTON, D.C. radio stations WMAL-A and WTOP. The advertisement will also be available for radio stations to download through NAB's recently launched grassroots advocacy website, NoPerformanceTax.org.
