WORLDNETDAILY.COM is reporting that what it refers to as a group of "representatives of more than two dozen of the nation's top talk shows" held a strategy conference this weekend in WASHINGTON to plot strategies to fight the possible introduction of "localism" rules by the FCC or Congress. The group was organized by author BRAD O'LEARY ("SHUT UP, AMERICA!: THE END OF FREE SPEECH") and WORLDNETDAILY.COM's JOE FARAH; RADIO AMERICA host ROGER HEDGECOCK was elected by the group to be spokesman and chairman of the coalition.
O'LEARY likened the likely localism-law requirement of local advisory boards, similar to those proposed by CLEAR CHANNEL, to "party-approved 'commissar committees'" that would censor talk hosts.
