TEXAS TECH sports will move from GAP BROADCASTING's LUBBOCK cluster to the crosstown RAMAR COMMUNICATIONS stations under a new deal between RAMAR, the school, and LEARFIELD SPORTS' RED RAIDER SPORTS PROPERTIES. Top 40/Rhythmic KSTQ (HOT 104.3) will flip to Sports and serve as flagship for RED RAIDER football, men's basketball, and baseball, while Tejano KXTQ (MAGIC 93.7) and Talk KJTV (FOXTALK 950) will also air football and men's basketball, and KJTV and AC KLZK (STARS 97.3) will carry women's basketball.
TEXAS TECH Athletic Director GERALD MYERS said, "While we’re delighted to begin a new relationship with Ramar Communications, we simply cannot ignore the exceptional job that GAP BROADCASTING and their family of stations have done for TEXAS TECH Athletics for a very long time. We certainly appreciate their years of partnership."
RAMAR President BRAD MORAN said, "This is a historic day for all of us and we are proud to be the Flagship of TEXAS TECH Sports."
