Minor league baseball's SOUTHERN ILLINOIS MINERS inks a deal with WITHERS BROADCASTING to create a five-station network to carry the independent FRONTIER LEAGUE club's games. The team will continue to be heard on flagship WITHERS Classic Rock WQUL (97.7 THE BEAR)/WEST FRANKFORT-MARION, IL, and will add WITHERS' Adult Standards KJXX-A/CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO; Classic Rock WRXX (95X)/CENTRALIA, IL; Country WEBQ-A/HARRISBURG, IL; and the new WRJJ/PADUCAH, KY. SCOTT GIERMAN returns to call the action, starting SATURDAY (5/9) with the preseason opener in CAPE GIRARDEAU.
"This is huge for our fans across the region who haven't been able to listen to MINERS games at home," said MINERS VP ERIK HAAG. "We've said since day one that we want to reach a fan base that includes all of SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, from river to river and as far north as MT. VERNON, and now we can give our fans the ability to follow the team more closely."
"We're pleased to be able to help the MINERS in their growth," said WITHERS BROADCASTING owner RUSS WITHERS. "This partnership works perfectly in our continued quest for local sports programming at WITHERS BROADCASTING. We look forward to a long and mutually satisfying relationship."
