Mackenzie, Bryant Launch WOW Radio Group
May 8, 2009 at 6:10 AM (PT)
Radio vet MIKE MACKENZIE has launched the WOW RADIO GROUP, a company designed to provide radio stations across the country with programming, major market air talent, creative promotions, station imaging and more.
MACKENZIE, a 20 year veteran of programming and mornings, said, "A brand new radio company has been formed that will change everything you know about radio with just one word. That word is...'WOW!' I wanted to launch and program a station that better served women 18- 44, playing great pop music. After months of research, I decided to create an entire company around the concept, offering radio companies and their stations the opportunity to purchase our debut format for a VERY economical price, which provided them everything they could possibly need for a fraction of their current expenses."
WOW Radio Group's debut format is a uniquely designed Rhythmic AC featuring the biggest pop hits from the late 80's thru the mid 2000's. Stations can purchase one of three programming packages that include music scheduling, 24/7 air talent, imaging, contesting, a new website, and other options. Affiliates also have the option to utilize some or all of their local talent instead if they wish, as the format is customizable. MACKENZIE adds, “Remember, we are NOT consultants, we are a group of experienced radio people who took our passion for this business, did all the hard work for you, then packaged everything in a neat little format that you may use as your own."
JUSTIN BRYANT, most recently PD of CITADEL's WBHT/Wilkes-Barre, PA, signs on as WOW RADIO GROUP's Director Of Programming, and adds, "I couldn't be more excited to join this brand new company that's guaranteed to make an impact during a difficult time in the industry!"
The WOW format's talent lineup includes "CHRIS SHINE In The Morning" with producer/co-host TROY HUGHES (both formerly with CBS' KMVK/DALLAS) KENDALL in middays (also formerly with CBS' KMVK/DALLAS) JUSTIN BRYANT in afternoons, and ANDREW TAYLOR in nights (currently nights at COX's WAPE/JACKSONVILLE).
MACKENZIE and BRYANT add that they've already begun work on the next WOW Radio Group format that should be ready for launch during the next 100 days. Watch for the WOW Rhythmic AC demo CD’s to arrive in your mailbox in the next week.
