BIA: Broadcasters' Web Sales Grow
May 11, 2009 at 5:03 AM (PT)
The latest BIA FINANCIAL SERVICES study reports that radio and television broadcasters' website ad sales reached about $805 million, equal to 7.3% of the $11 billion local online advertising money spent in 2008. Radio pulled in $342 million of that money, with TV taking in $463 million. BIA projects broadcasters' online revenue will rise to as much as $1.9 billion by 2013 if the industry continues its transformation to multiplatform solutions.
"We see a compounded annual growth rate of 18.6% for online broadcasting advertising over the 2008–2013 period," said BIA VP MARK FRATRIK. "Given the challenges facing broadcasting, it’s even more important for broadcasters to continue to step-up their mobile and Internet offerings."
BIA is holding a three day program on how media must adapt to survive, "WINNING MEDIA STRATEGIES." The program is set for MAY 20-22 in WASHINGTON.
