Iranian-American reporter ROXANA SABERI, who has worked with NPR, the BBC, ABC NEWS, and other international media outlets, will be freed from an Iranian prison MONDAY, according to her lawyer. A court heard SABERI's appeal on SUNDAY and is allowing her to leave the country but cannot work as a journalist in IRAN for five years. The reporter has been on a hunger strike while awaiting court consideration of her appeal.
SABERI, a native of NEW JERSEY who grew up in FARGO, ND and has recently been reporting in IRAN, was sentenced to eight years in prison for espionage in a secret trial that drew international criticism. She has been held in prison since JANUARY.
