ROGER CLEMENS hasn't been talking much to the media since a federal grand jury launched an investigation last year into whether he lied when he denied to a congressional panel that he took illegal performance-enhancing drugs, but he was talking TODAY on ESPN RADIO's "MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING."
CLEMENS joined MIKE GREENBERG and MIKE GOLIC by phone at 8:25a ET on the day that a book by NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reporters TERI THOMPSON, NATHANIEL VINTON, CHRISTIAN RED and MICHAEL O'KEEFFE with allegations that he lied about using steroids, "AMERICAN ICON: THE FALL OF ROGER CLEMENS AND THE RISE OF STEROIDS IN AMERICA'S PASTIME," is hitting bookstores. CLEMENS again denied that his former trainer BRIAN MCNAMEE injected him with performance-enhancing drugs and said he gave a DNA sample to the investigators, and said that taking steroids would have been "suicidal" considering his family history of heart problems.
The seven-time CY YOUNG AWARD winner had not consented to an interview since his "60 MINUTES" interview on JANUARY 6th. 2008.
