Budget cuts proposed for RADIO and TV MARTI would change the stations' formats, with the radio version of the federally-funded broadcasts aimed at CUBA becoming an all-News station and the TV channel adding half-hourly five-minute news updates.
The new budget proposed by the stations in their funding request to Congress includes a $2.4 million cut and 35 job cuts (20% of the stations' workforce), including not filling 10 presently vacant positions. If approved, the changes would be instituted in OCTOBER.
