SoCal Braces For Another John And Ken Anti-Tax Rally
May 15, 2009 at 1:56 PM (PT)
SATURDAY's the day for the next JOHN AND KEN "Great Tax Revolt of 2009" rally, this time at TOM'S FARMS in CORONA, CA, where the CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES afternoon hosts hope to repeat the success of the first rally in FULLERTON. The event, timed to precede next week's election in which five ballot measures pushed by Gov. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER are up for a vote, will air live 4-7p on the station.
Besides the themes of "Heads on a Stick" and "Revolt, Recall, and Repeal" aimed at SCHWARZENEGGER and the leadership of both parties in the legislature for passing a massive tax increase and creating ballot measures that would extend the increase, the event will feature SCHWARZENEGGER pinatas and a giant shredder as well as an anticipated crowd of several thousand unhappy CALIFORNIA taxpayers.
JOHN KOBYLT and KEN CHIAMPOU are no strangers to rallying listeners against tax increases, starting with a NEW JERSEY tax increase in 1990 when the hosts were at Talk WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON that led to rallies and, ultimately, the end of Governor JIM FLORIO's tenure.
The station will live-blog the rally and will also post photos and videos on its website; click here to follow the action.
