Report: All FCC Vacancies About To Be Filled

It looks like all the Commissioner vacancies on the FCC -- both Democratic and Republican -- are about to be filled soon. And two of the projected nominees have direct, familial ties to the WASHINGTON, DC political elite.
According to several reports, the Senate has gummed up the confirmation of Pres. OBAMA's pick to be Chairman, JULIUS GENACHOWSKI, until nominees for the other vacancies were settled on first. That seems to be in the offing, as the WALL STREET JOURNAL reports that the Republicans want current FCC Commissioner ROBERT MCDOWELL to stay on and be complemented by newcomer MEREDITH ATTWELL BAKER, who previously worked in the Commerce Dept. To fill the vacancy of departing Democratic commissioner JONATHAN ADELSTEIN, the WHITE HOUSE had already nominated MIGNON CLYBURN, a SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC utilities commissioner.
And the family ties? Republican BAKER is the daughter-in-law of former Secretary of State JAMES BAKER. Democrat CLYBURN is the daughter of House Majority Whip JAMES CLYBURN.
