Jacobs Broadcast Group Launches WSYA Trimulcast

JACOBS BROADCAST GROUP has launched the first “new” radio station to come to the ANNISTON/OXFORD, AL area in almost 20 years with the introduction of "Soft Rock Variety" WSYA (SUNNY 104.3). The Oldies-based AC format will target the upscale 25-54 adult audience.
WSYA-A (formally WANA) licensed to ANNISTON, operates on 1490 and is one of the market’s oldest stations. JACOBS has added two new FM Translators (W282BD licensed to ANNISTON on 104.3 FM and W256BH licensed to OXFORD, AL on 99.1 FM) to achieve the three station "tri-mulcast." The two FM Translators are simulcasting WSYA’s programming under STA from the FCC.
"This has been a long and arduous process to get this combination of the three signals together as one station", JACOBS BROADCAST GROUP Pres. JIM JACOBS said. "We're very happy with the end result. The coverage of the two FM Translators over the marketplace is very competitive for now, and will only improve as pending rules changes before the FCC become reality."
"When you look at contemporary radio for our area, the market’s listeners and advertisers simply didn't have any local choices, with only one station playing contemporary music," he continued. "SUNNY 104.3 changes all that now.”
Syndicated morning duo BOB & SHERI will be followed by live, local personalities until the syndicated DELILAH airs at night. Weekend features include CASEY KASEM’s Classic American Top 40 shows from the '70s and 80s, MIKE HARVEY’s SuperGold SATURDAY night all-request oldies show, and DICK CLARK’s Rock, Roll & Remember.
