Report: WPRO Hosts In 'Guest Poaching' Dispute
June 9, 2009 at 4:42 PM (PT)
The PROVIDENCE JOURNAL is reporting on a dispute between hosts at CITADEL Talk WPRO-A-WEAN/PROVIDENCE that has nobody talking and lawyers involved.
The incident occurred last THURSDAY, when former Governor BRUCE SUNDLUN guested on morning host JOHN DEPETRO's show. After the show, the midday team of former PROVIDENCE Mayor BUDDY CIANCI and longtime WPRO personality RON ST. PIERRE asked SUNDLUN to come back to the studio for more questions, and DEPETRO reportedly objected, complaining in a note to management that the midday show was poaching his guests. The note allegedly ended up being crumpled and thrown back at DEPETRO by ST. PIERRE, and a staple on the note allegedly led to a corneal abrasion that kept DE PETRO off the air FRIDAY.
Attorney VINCENT RAGOSTA told the JOURNAL's MIKE STANTON that he has been hired to represent DE PETRO "in connection with an incident that occurred on JUNE 4, 2009" but declined further comment, as did DE PETRO, ST. PIERRE, and GM BARBARA HAYNES, although DEPETRO returned MONDAY wearing an eye patch.
