The latest report on SPECTRUM ENTERTAINMENT head and CHICAGO SPORTS WEBIO backer DAVID HERNANDEZ is that he remains a fugitive from federal fraud charges, but an attorney who has represented him in the past says she received a call from him on WEDNESDAY saying that he was in a hotel in DOWNERS GROVE and is okay.
The CHICAGO TRIBUNE reports that AVNI SHAH told the paper about HERNANDEZ' call, but DOWNERS GROVE police officer Sgt. DAVID BORMANN responded that they have not heard from HERNANDEZ and that "we think he's lying" about his whereabouts. "He might just be throwing people off," BORMANN said. "I doubt he's staying in town."
HERNANDEZ was charged MONDAY for allegedly diverting investors' money to fund Internet Sports Talk station CHICAGO SPORTS WEBIO and for personal use. The station closed this week after initially firing three executives, including principal MIKE NORTH, the former CBS RADIO Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO morning host.
