Vancouver's Arnie Nelson Dies

Condolences to family and friends of longtime VANCOUVER radio broadcaster and sales executive ARNIE NELSON, who died JUNE 7th after a battle with cancer, according to NWBROADCASTERS.COM and the VANCOUVER SUN/THE PROVINCE.
NELSON began on radio as a singer at 10 years old on CKNW-A/VANCOUVER, first appearing on the station's amateur show "THE CHILDREN'S HOUR" and then on other shows. While attending the UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA, he played steel guitar with the RHYTHM PALS on CBC radio and television. After a stint with IBM in TORONTO, he later resumed his radio career in 1961 in sales and management as well as on the air at CKNW-A, moving to CJOR-A in 1965, and to ALL CANADA RADIO later that year through 1976.
