Claims by local residents that radiation from the tower of EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION Christian Country WOKR (GOD'S COUNTRY)/REMSEN-UTICA, NY is making them sick are running up against an FCC investigation that "didn't find anything out of the ordinary," according to FCC Office of Engineering Associate Chief BRUCE ROMANO. ROMANO told the UTICA OBSERVER-DISPATCH that "there's no apparent reason for concerns with health problems" at the station's tower in FLOYD, NY.
But FLOYD Town Supervisor JOHN BUCZEK told the paper that residents observed work being done at the tower in advance of the FCC's visit, and charged, "There’s something they’re hiding, and there’s a lot of truth to the illnesses some of the people in the geographical area are experiencing. I believe those people."
Residents near the tower have said that they are experiencing health problems like headaches, nausea, fatigue, and blisters, that they believe are connected to RF radiation from the tower, and a previous study by MID-STATE COMMUNICATIONS showed high RF levels in the area. EMF said that it is cooperating with the FCC and intends to do an independent study of the situation.
