FCC Proposes Fine On KKDA For Contest Snafu

The FCC has proposed a $4,000 fine on SERVICE BROADCASTING Urban KKDA-F (K-104)/DALLAS for contest rule violations. The proposed fine stems from a complaint that the station announced a contest prize of VIP tickets for a NELLY concert, but the winners discovered that the tickets were instead general admission tickets with no special privileges.
The station said that its promos did not promise VIP status, but individual air talent made the assertions; it also says that while it did not promise the VIP access, a UNIVERSAL MUSIC rep did allow the winners VIP access. The Commission, however, agreed with the complainants that the station jocks did in fact promise VIP access.
