Fans who attended the CLEAR CHANNEL Country WBCT (B-93)/GRAND RAPIDS "Birthday Bash" on JUNE 20th have been getting their cars back this past week, according to the GRAND RAPIDS PRESS. The parking lot at the show was completely flooded, with as many as 1,400 vehicles left stranded in rapidly rising floodwaters (NET NEWS 6/22).
CLEAR CHANNEL VP/Market Manager TIM FEAGAN told the newspaper, "We have the vast majority of the cars out of the south lot."
STATE FARM insurance spokeswoman NICK METGER said most of the full-coverage vehicles inspected by her company's adjusters were considered totaled. STATE FARM Team Manager KURT KUGLER reported that the most seriously damaged cars had water over the hood. He warned that people who haul vehicles home should be wary of unexpectedly deploying airbags, which can short out in water.
As of yesterday (6/28), fewer than 400 cars remained in the lot, and the retrieval is expected to continue today.
