WRKO's Finneran Asks Court Not To Disbar Him

ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON morning host TOM FINNERAN is taking another shot at keeping his law license, asking the MASSACHUSETTS Supreme Judicial Court to suspend him rather than disbar him for pleading guilty to felony obstruction of justice in 2007. The BOSTON HERALD reports that FINNERAN's attorney ARNOLD ROSENBLATT told the court in a brief, "Here, we have a case where the evidence indicates that (FINNERAL) -- a lawyer with an otherwise impeccable record for honesty and service to the commonwealth -- had a moment of personal weakness."
"Whatever discipline the court imposes on (FINNERAN) is going to be criticized by those in the media who claim to represent public opinion, but who, in reality, regularly ignore the true facts of any situation and insult anyone and everyone," ROSENFELD wrote in an apparent reference to FINNERAN's most vocal detractor, fellow WRKO host and HERALD columnist HOWIE CARR.
FINNERAN, former Speaker of the MASSACHUSETTS House, faces disbarment by the Board of Bar Overseers for lying to a federal court about his role in a controversial redistricting plan.
