CRTC Hits CHSC With Orders, License Conditions

PELLPROPCO AC-Oldies-Italian CHSC-A/ST. CATHARINES, ON gets slapped by the CRTC for falling short on required Canadian content, airing too much "third language" programming, failure to provide complete logger tapes and logs, failure to provide audited financial statements, and for orienting its ethnic programming to serve TORONTO Italians across the lake rather than local residents.
Some of the problems stemmed from the station's loss of its main studio and delays in constructing a replacement, during which the station has been broadcasting from various remote locations. The CRTC issued mandatory orders and conditions of license on CHSC to require compliance with the rules.
The CRTC also approved a power boost for BYRNES COMMUNICATIONS AC CIHR (104.7 HEART FM)/WOODSTOCK/ON from 1,929 watts to 7,096 watts.
