EMMIS/INDIANAPOLIS Market Mgr. TOM SEVERINO has passed. CEO JEFF SMULYAN released this statement TODAY:
This is a very difficult time for all of the EMMIS Family. TOM SEVERINO has passed away.
To those of you who knew him and loved him, his spirit will remain forever in our hearts. TOM fought a courageous battle with cancer, and his passing is hard for all of us to comprehend.
His family was with him at the end, and his last hours were free of the pain that he courageously endured for these last months. Now let us remember his indomitable spirit, his remarkable courage and his wonderful life that brought a smile to everyone he touched. TOM, you lived a life with purpose. You were a great husband, father and friend. To those of us you leave behind, we will always cherish our memories.
I hope everyone says a prayer for TOM's family, his wife LINDA, and children CARLY, TONY and TOMMY. Let us always cherish our families and friends as TOM would have wanted.
Added EMMIS Pres./Programming RICK CUMMINGS, "TOM competed intensely, never shied from difficult operational or personnel decisions, but always made them with a compassion for his people that is a hallmark of EMMIS.
"His legacy includes taking 70 year-old News/Talk WIBC to the FM band and restoring it to the top of the ratings in INDIANAPOLIS.
"He fought his illness like he fought every battle, with both intensity and an unflagging sense of humor that all who knew him will miss."
