CRTC To Review Community, Campus Radio Rules
July 13, 2009 at 11:14 AM (PT)
The CRTC has posted for public comment several proposals and studies on community and campus radio, with a hearing set for NOVEMBER 30th in GATINEAU to discuss the regulation of such stations. The review of community radio will be followed by a 2010 proceeding looking at community TV.
The studies being considered include one on the "use of turntablism and audio art on campus radio stations," one on international approaches to funding and regulating community radio, a summary of meetings between the campus and community radio sector and Commission staff, and a DEPARTMENT OF CANADIAN HERITAGE study on community radio from MARCH 2008. The CRTC is asking for responses to a series of 35 questions about its present regulations and whether changed circumstances warrant changing the rules, plus queries on micro radio and diversity.
