EMMIS RADIO Urban AC WRKS (98.7 KISS)/NEW YORK has named comedian and TV personality D.L. HUGHLEY its new morning show host. HUGHLEY earned national notoriety as a stand-up comedian who was part of the "Kings Of Comedy" tour and film, and as the lead star in the sitcom THE HUGHLEYS.
"We are ecstatic to welcome D.L. HUGHLEY to the KISS-FM family!" WRKS PD JILL STRADA said."Get ready, NEW YORK because your mornings will never be the same!"
"D.L. HUGHLEY will be a fresh, provocative and intelligent voice to Urban radio and furthermore to radio, period," EMMIS NY SVP/GM ALEXANDRA CAMERON said. "We are very pleased with the collaboration in crafting this new morning show choice, which includes some of the current cast of KISS FM's Wake Up Club. We anticipate this being a welcome addition to mornings in NEW YORK!"
HUGHLEY will be joined on his show by established radio and television personality JACQUE REID, comic STEVE WILSON, KISS FM vet RAQIYAH MAYS, and NEW YORK’s longtime "voice of the black community" BOB SLADE. The show debuts on MONDAY, JULY 20th and will air live from 6-10a.
"I always wanted to do radio and having the opportunity to do it with KISS FM is truly exciting!" HUGHLEY said. "I am going to work hard for the audience of NEW YORK ... they may not always like what I say, but I promise to never play down to them and I promise to always work hard to keep them entertained."
