FARM AID organizers announced today (7/16) that this year's event will be held OCTOBER 4th in St. LOUIS, featuring headliners WILLIE NELSON (President of FARM AID), NEIL YOUNG, JOHN MELLENCAMP and DAVE MATTHEWS. This is the first time that the event will be held in MISSOURI.
NELSON said: "FARM AID has deep roots in the Midwest that reach back to our first concert in ILLINOIS in 1985. I'm looking forward to bringing my friends together on the FARM AID stage to celebrate family farmers and the crucial work they do. Farmers do so much more than bring us the good food we all want to eat. AMERICA needs family farmers to revitalize our economy and make our country healthy."
In addition to the concert, the event will once again feature "homegrown" concessions - family-farm identified, local and organic foods. FARM AID's "Homegrown Village" will showcase hands-on activities that give concertgoers the chance to meet farmers, get their hands dirty and learn more about farming techniques.
Tickets for FARM AID 2009 will go on sale JULY 25th, and special advance ticket will be available to FARM AID members beginning JULY 17th. For more info visit www.farmaid.org.
