2UE/Sydney Hit With Big Judgement

FAIRFAX MEDIA Talk 2UE/SYDNEY has been hit with an A$360,000 judgement by the Federal Court for violations of sponsorship laws.
The troubles stemmed from former star host JOHN LAWS' failure to tell the station about 13 instances in which he received payment for on-air mentions of products; the station had agreed to a penalty of $10,000 per infraction to be paid to the AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA AUTHORITY, but the court nearly tripled the fine due to the seriousness of the infractions. LAWS retired in 2007.
