Islanders Drop Radio Team, Will Simulcast With TV

The NEW YORK ISLANDERS have dropped their radio broadcast team of STEVE MEARS and CHRIS KING and will air a simulcast of the club's TV broadcasts on radio next season, according to NEWSDAY. The radio broadcasts will feature the same commentary by HOWIE ROSE and BILLY JAFFE that accompanies the MADISON SQUARE GARDEN NETWORK telecasts. KING has been part of the ISLANDERS radio crew for 15 years and on a fuill-time basis for 11 years, while MEARS joined the club three seasons ago.
The ISLANDERS were heard in 2008-09 on a network headed by BARNSTABLE Hot AC WMJC/SMITHTOWN, L.I. (night games) and Adult Standards WHLI-A/HEMPSTEAD, L.I. (day games),
