Denver Stations On FM Boosters After Lightning Strike
July 27, 2009 at 3:41 PM (PT)
MAX MEDIA Alternative KTNI (INDIE 105.1)/DENVER and sister station Top 40/Mainstream KONN (HOT 107.1) have applied for, and received, a 180-day Special Temporary Authorization from the FCC to remain off the air from their main antenna. The stations have received permission to retransmit their signal on an FM booster during this 180-day period.
According to the station's request, KTNI and KONN discovered that a lightning strike had damaged a feed line to their main antenna. The request points out that repairing the damage will not be easy because of the antenna's height at 1969 feet and difficult weather conditions at the site, which the request describes as "sometimes treacherous".
