The WASHINGTON POST's DAN STEINBERG is reporting on his D.C. SPORTS BLOG that TONY KORNHEISER's next move is a return to radio, this time on RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING Sports WTEM-A (ESPN 980)/WASHINGTON, where KORNHEISER hosted a show for several years. KORNHEISER, who left ESPN's MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL after last season, most recently hosted a radio show at BONNEVILLE Talk WWWT-A-F (3WT, now WFED-A (FEDERAL NEWS RADIO))/WASHINGTON and has also been heard on XM SATELLITE RADIO and ESPN RADIO.
The report cited TWITTER posts by KORNHEISER listener JIM ZINZI, whose wife ran into the host at the beach and elicited the news that he would be returning to radio for late-mornings at ESPN 980 in early SEPTEMBER. STEINBERG contacted KORNHEISER and, while the host would not explicitly say what his plans are, when asked about a show at WTEM, he responded, "Hope to, want to, plan to. I'm saying this is what I want to do, this is what I plan on doing."
