Twitter, Facebook, Others Undergo DOS Attack

TWITTER, FACEBOOK and LIVEJOURNAL underwent a "Denial Of Service" attack YESTERDAY (8/6), that continues into TODAY. The attack started around 6a PT. The WASHINGTON POST reports TWITTER and LIVEJOURNAL took the brunt of the attack, FACEBOOK stayed mostly online but was clearly under strain. CNET reports that a single individual's accounts on the services may have been the primary target.
As of 4p PT TWITTER reported things were looking better, saying "Site latency has continued to improve."
The POST writes that for most users, all third-party services remain unusable, including TWEETDECK, SEESMIC, POWER TWITTER, etc..). The main TWITTER site is back and running properly TODAY.
