Server Locks Up As Chesney Launches NoShoesRadio.com
August 7, 2009 at 6:40 AM (PT)
BNA star KENNY CHESNEY launched his new online radio station, NoShoesRadio.com, YESTERDAY(8/6) at high noon (CT), live from ORANGE BEACH, AL. The station opened with the hit song that inspired its name, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems." The server could not handle the more than 50,000 computers that logged on to the site, so it locked up as CHESNEY took the microphone to welcome listeners.
He said: “I hate that the server locked up. Though the 50,000 or so people who'd made it through the portal that first little bit, they got to keep listening, and that it took our folks over an hour to broaden the access; but at the same time, when you try something a lot of people tell you is crazy, in the back of your mind, you're kind of glad that there was so much demand. It's not about being right, but knowing that you're still in sync with the fans, because, well, the reason we do all this stuff is to try and get people as close to the music as I always wanted to be.”
CHESNEY welcomed guests like producer BUDDY CANNON and tourmates MIRANDA LAMBERT and LADY ANTEBELLUM, while playing some of his personal favorite songs from other artists, as well as some of his own hits.
