Baker, Clyburn Name Staffers

New FCC Commissioner MEREDITH ATTWELL BAKER has named attorneys WILLIAM D. FREEDMAN, ERIN A. MCGRATH, AND CHRISTI SHEWMAN as her Acting Legal Advisors. FREEDMAN, former Associate Chief of the Media Bureau, will serve as Acting Senior Legal Advisor and Acting Legal Advisor for media and enforcement issues. MCGRATH, previously Assistant Division Chief in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau’s Mobility Division, will serve as Acting Legal Advisor for wireless, international, and public safety issues. SHEWMAN will be Acting Legal Advisor for wireline, universal service, and consumer issues
BAKER said, "I am excited to have such a qualified team in place. I am confident that their knowledge and dedication, along with their years of service to the FCC, will be invaluable as we address the many important issues before the Commission."
Meanwhile, fellow new Commissioner MIGNON CLYBURN named Acting General Counsel MICHELE ELLISON to lead her office’s transition efforts and Deputy Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau RENÉE ROLAND CRITTENDON as Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor on spectrum, international and public safety matters.
CLYBURN also announced the appointment of Congressional attorney RICK KAPLAN as acting Legal Advisor and Chief of External Affairs, Acting Associate Bureau Chief OF THE Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau CAROL SIMPSON as acting Legal Advisor for wireline and broadband matters, ALMIRA KENNEDY as interim Confidential Assistant, and CRYSTAL RICE as interim Staff Assistant.
