CITADEL makes changes at its Sports WJOX and Sports WSPZ-A (THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/BIRMINGHAM, including simulcasting WJOX' morning "THE OPENING DRIVE" and afternoon PAUL FINEBAUM shows on WSPZ. The BIRMINGHAM NEWS reports that "THE OPENING DRIVE" will replace CITADEL MEDIA's DON IMUS after a few more weeks, and will also stay on for an extra hour 9-10a CT on the AM side only. FINEBAUM will bump WSPZ afternoon show "DUNAWAY AND BROWN" to middays 10a-2p. The moves replace ESPN RADIO's COLIN COWHERD and PREMIERE's JIM ROME on WSPZ.
On WJOX, DOT COM PLUS LLC Sports WNSP/MOBILE host BRIEN STRAW is inbound as LANCE TAYLOR's co-host on "THE ROUNDTABLE" 10a-2p. STRAW fills the slot left open by IAN FITZSIMMONS, who exited two weeks ago to join ESPN RADIO Sports KESN (103.3 ESPN)/DALLAS as RANDY GALLOWAY's sidekick. Former NFL player FRANK SANDERS is also joining WJOX as a regular contributor.
