Can people tell the difference between vodka and a radio station? The owners of ABSOLUT VODKA aren't so sure, so they're suing ABSOLUTE RADIO, the national U.K. Rock station, for trademark infringement.
Swedish news site THE LOCAL reports that the vodka maker's PAULA ERIKSSON said, "I can confirm that it is correct that we have objections to them using the name ABSOLUTE ... ABSOLUT is a brand that is known worldwide outside of its spirits category. We consider that there is a risk of confusion."
ABSOLUTE RADIO changed its name from VIRGIN RADIO when the station changed hands and was taken over by TIMES OF INDIA GROUP last year.
