CITADEL True Oldies WJZW/WASHINGTON suddenly flipped formats this morning at 10a (ET) to a Classic Rock presentation with a new moniker, 105.9 THE EDGE.
CITADEL/D.C. OM KENNY KING told ALL ACCESS, "Yeah, we launched 105-9 THE EDGE this morning and surprisingly, people seem to like it! Heck, we should be in good shape to become a solid P1 choice for rock fans by this time next year. As far as the format, I guess you could think of it as MIX 107.3 -- for guys. With the addition of 105-9 The EDGE, our cluster we’ll have incredible strength for advertisers, with the guys on one side and the girls on the other. With regard to what we’ll play, let’s just say we like ELTON JOHN and BILLY JOEL, but like ZEPPELIN and PEARL JAM better! Special thanks to AEROSMITH for the use of their song 'Livin’ On The EDGE' for this morning's launch -- those guys were really excited about the station!"
