FCC Doles Out Fines, Cancels One

The FCC is proposing a $19,000 fine against OPP EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING FOUNDATION for EAS violations at noncommercial WJIF/OPP, AL. The station is alleged to have failed to have operable EAS equipment and failed to conduct required tests of the system or to respond fully to Commission inquiries.
The Commission also fined CACTUS COMMUNICATIONS, LLC. $1,500 for failing to timely file a license renewal application for KKAY-A/WHITE CASTLE, LA; cancelled a $7,000 fine against JACK W. IVY, SR. on financial hardship grounds for a late license renewal application for WRMG-A/RED BAY, AL; and fined CHRISTIAN RADIO TRANSLATOR ASSOCIATION/SALMON, INC. $500 for a late license renewal application and unauthorized operation of FM translator K275DJ/SALMON, ID.
