Country legend BARBARA MANDRELL has become the first woman to be inducted into the STEEL GUITAR HALL OF FAME. The induction took place at the INTERNATIONAL STEEL GUITAR CONVENTION in ST. LOUIS, MO this past SATURDAY (9/5).
MANDRELL, known as the "Sweetheart of the Steel," was playing the steel guitar, and many other instruments, by the time she was 10 years old. At the ripe old age of 13 she was on tour with "The JOHNNY CASH Show" and she racked up her first chart hit at 21. Earlier this year MANDRELL was inducted into the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME.
