Journal Pres./CEO Doug Keil To Retire

JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP Pres./CEO DOUG KEIL will retire at year's end to start his own company, reports THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS Chairman/CEO STEVEN SMITH reportedly will take over the broadcast division for the time being.
KIEL has spent 22 years at JOURNAL COMM, 11 of those leading the broadcast group. Previously he was VP/GM at JOURNAL's WTMJ/MILWAUKEE.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL notes JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS "shares closed TUESDAY at $4.05 and weren't active premarket. The stock is up 65% so far this year even as advertising revenue continues to slump. The company has more than 50 newspapers and shoppers, 33 radio stations and 13 television stations."
