The RADIO TELEVISION NEWS DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION (RTNDA) presented its EDWARD R. MURROW AWARDS at a gala in NEW YORK MONDAY night, and it took the occasion to announce that the organization's name is changing ... to the RTDNA (the RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION).
RTDNA Chairman and KOMU-TV/COLUMBIA, MO News Dir. STACEY WOELFEL said, "As I stand before you as the first chairman of RTDNA, there’s a lot to be excited about. As we embrace our digital future and navigate this uncharted course together, you can be sure that RTDNA will still do what it does best -- protect journalists and allow them to provide unencumbered coverage, offer training in the best practices for all electronic and digital journalists, and -- the reason we’re all here tonight -- recognize excellence within the field of journalism."
In a poignant moment, CBS RADIO NEWS' CHARLIE KAYE, accepting the award for Overall Excellence, dedicated the honor to CAMI MCCORMICK, who continues to recover from serious injuries sustained in an IED blast in AFGHANISTAN. KAYE will bring the award to MCCORMICK at WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER in WASHINGTON TOMORROW (10/14).
