Former ESPN commentator and CBS RADIO Sports KRLD-F (105.3 THE FAN)/DALLAS host SEAN SALISBURY is suing sports blog DEADSPIN parent GAWKER MEDIA for a series of posts his attorney characterized to the FRISCO ENTERPRISE and MCKINNEY COURIER-GAZETTE as a "long-running smear campaign."
SALISBURY says in the suit, filed in DENTON COUNTY, TX, that a post on JANUARY 6th, 2007 alleged that he had been suspended by ESPN for "sexting" a female colleague with an indecent photo of himself, and repeated the information in four subsequent posts, including on SEPTEMBER 11th of this year after his departure from KRLD-F.
"What we hope to prove is that blog sites like DEADSPIN are accountable," attorney TODD HARLOW said. "They can't simply attack someone and make a concerted effort to destroy the lives and careers of people without any ramifications. The difference between other news outlets and DEADSPIN is at least the other news outlets try to get it right. We hope to make a statement that if sites are going to behave like this, there are consequences and they are long overdue for that."
