WFNX Shakes Up On-Air Lineup; Adds Adam 12 For Afternoons

PHOENIX MEDIA Alternative WFNX/BOSTON is starting the NEW YEAR with a new on-air lineup, with changes in nearly every daypart.
WFNX has cancelled THE SANDBOX morning show. A new morning show will be co-hosted by WFNX PD KEITH DAKIN and APD DUSTIN "FLETCHER" MATTHEWS, with news and current events covered by morning mainstay HENRY SANTORO. FLETCHER and HENRY are holdovers from the previous morning show, which also included CHARLIE and SPECIAL.
"This show will evolve organically, with as much listener interaction as we can get at every stage," said VP/Ops. MIKE TIERNEY. "Our only goals at the outset are to give our listeners more of the music-based programming they expect, while also providing a steady stream of original content -- such as interviews with artists and other culturally relevant guests, as well as in-studio performances -- that they won’t hear anywhere else."
ADAM 12 returns to WFNX, where he started as an intern and part-time JOCK, after a long and accomplished tenure at now-defunct CBS Alternative WBCN. He takes over on-air for BIG JIM MURRAY, who will focus full-time on off-air duties, including a creative role in the new morning show.
Night-timer PAUL DRISCOLL will expand his shift to replace the sydicated show "LOVELINE" with music-intensive programming. JULIE KRAMER’s midday show, including the long-running LEFTOVER LUNCH music feature, will not be affected by the changes.
"These moves will allow us to focus on our core audience, which has always been BOSTON’s most passionate and knowledgeable fans of music and pop culture," TIERNEY explained. "We appreciate the unique talents of everyone involved with THE SANDBOX and LOVELINE, are grateful for their hard work, and wish them success in the future."
