Former PROVIDENCE Mayor and present CITADEL Talk WPRO-A-WEAN/PROVIDENCE host BUDDY CIANCI is considering a political comeback by running for Congress or Mayor, reports the BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM.
CIANCI told HESLAM that he might run for Congress against incumbent Rep. PATRICK KENNEDY (D-RI), saying "PATRICK is definitely, in my opinion, beatable. He’s not as strong as he used to be. He’s had a number of problems that have distracted him from the business of governing and legislating ... There’s a total anti-incumbency feeling. I know PATRICK. I knew his father. I like PATRICK but I don’t know what contribution he’s making to the state." He also is considering running against incumbent PROVIDENCE Mayor DAVID CICILLINE.
CIANCI, who served five years in prison on a racketeering conspiracy conviction, said he would give up his radio job and his commentaries on ABC affiliate WLNE-TV/PROVIDENCE-NEW BEDFORD if he decides to run for office.
