ALPHA BROADCASTING/PORTLAND stations KUFO, KINK and KUPL have launched iPHONE apps this week which will enable listeners to listen to their favorite stations from their cell phones. On top of the live streaming, the apps provide song lyrics, artist and album information, reviews, videos, station podcasts, samples of recently played songs and even the ability to buy music through iTUNES.
There is no registration required and the app is free to download. BLACKBERRY apps for the stations will be available shortly.
"We've moved into the next level of content delivery," ALPHA Dir./Music Programming SCOTT MAHALICK said. "As listeners become more mobile, our goal is to make it easier than ever before to connect, anywhere and anytime. Eventually the only device people will need is a cell phone and this revolutionary new technology moves us ever closer in that direction, offering the convenience and portability that aren't even possible with a laptop."
"We are so pleased that ALPHA BROADCASTING has chosen AIRKAST to deliver its mobile applications and un-tether its audience from listening via desktop computers," AIRKAST Pres. SIMON MOY said. "In addition to distributing its own content, ALPHA can now offer advertisers and sponsors a graphically-rich and feature-robust way to reach its mobile listening audience."
