REALNETWORKS INC. Founder and CEO ROB GLASER has resigned. The L.A. TIMES reports that General Counsel ROBERT KIMBALL will serve as interim CEO while its board seeks a permanent replacement.
GLASER gave no reason for his abrupt resignation and made no mention of his plans. He sent a message to his 1,633 FACEBOOK contacts, predicting an imminent reorganization at REALNETWORKS, citing "an extremely rigorous strategy review and ... a very exciting road map for the future that you'll hear about in the days and weeks ahead."
REALNETWORKS operates the online music service RHAPSODY, which it owns with MTV NETWORKS, as well as REALARCADE, a site for casual games.
