NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY has selected RADIO FARGO-MOORHEAD for exclusive negotiations for the school's sports radio rights. The FARGO FORUM reports that the school chose RADIO FARGO-MOORHEAD over present flagship FORUM Talk WDAY-A and GREAT PLAINS INTEGRATED MARKETING Talk WZFG-A (THE FLAG) for the first shot at the three-year contract. RADIO FARGO MOORHEAD's Talk KFGO-A airs UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA football and hockey as well as MINNESOTA VIKINGS and TWINS games; the company also owns Sports KVOX-A (740 THE FAN), which recently picked up minor league baseball's FARGO-MOORHEAD REDHAWKS broadcasts.
A statement at the FAN website read, "All of us here at 740 The FAN/KVOX-AM are extremely excited that NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY has chosen us to be the Flagship Station of the NDSU BISON. We understand and appreciate the process that NDSU has gone through to make this decision. With that said, we understand this is a phase of an ongoing process.
"We are excited to continue our conversations with the NDSU BISON. 740 The FAN and the family of radio stations at RADIO FARGO-MOORHEAD look forward to strengthening the connection between the outstanding BISON athletic programs and their loyal and ardent fan base. We have long been proud of our relationship with the NDSU BISON and we pledge to work hard to help NDSU meet its broadcast and marketing goals."
