FORDHAM UNIVERSITY Triple A WFUV/NEW YORK has begun a public service campaign to increase public awareness of relief organizations working in HAITI in the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake that struck PORT-AU-PRINCE on JANUARY 12th
Called STRIKE A CHORD: HAITI, the PSAs will spotlight the work of non-profit organizations such as DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS, YÉLE HAITI, the RED CROSS, CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES and the AMERICAN JEWISH WORLD SERVICE.
"The staff at WFUV has been very moved by the catastrophe in Haiti. As our thoughts are turned to the HAITIAN people and how to help them, our News & Public department's GEORGE BODARKY, ELLEN BURKE and MORLENE CHIN jumped in to create this last-minute Strike A Chord campaign," said WFUV General Manager RALPH JENNINGS
Listeners can find information on the organizations, as well as links to make donations at www.wfuv.org/strikeachord/.
In other WFUV news, the station is gearing up for a campaign called Five Decades in Five Days to coincide with their winter membership drive taking place January 25th-29th. Each day will feature another decade from the ‘60s to ‘00s. Listeners can share their memories on the air, as well as on WFUV's Facebook, Youtube (where the station will award a prize for the best video) and Twitter pages.
In keeping with the theme, WFUV hosts will post their own lists of top ten favorite tracks from each decade at www.wfuv.org/blog/.
