WKTU And CC/NY Mobilize To Aid Haitians

The NEW YORK metro area has one of the largest HAITIAN populations outside of HAITI. Not all the victims of the horrific HAITIAN earthquake were in HAITI during the disaster. There are many HAITIANS that may have been visiting relatives and are currently "stuck" in the NEW YORK metro area.
Then there are the Haitians displaced by the disaster who have family in the area -- many of them will resettle here over the next year. These people are part of the NEW YORK community, and CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC WKTU and all the CLEAR CHANNEL NEW YORK radio stations have identified a local need for people affected by the earthquake.
WKTU has organized a collection drive for these victims. Items being collected include cash, even beyond the day-to-day costs of living, there are fees associated with TEMPORARY PROTECTION STATUS (TPS) and work permits that can add to up several hundred of dollars. Plus, many banks in HAITI have literally and figuratively collapsed, so even those with money saved may be unable to access those funds. All of this adds up to a tremendous need for cash for local victims.
WKTU is also collecting food, hygiene supplies, baby supplies, medical/first aid supplies and clothes.
WKTU has engaged local businesses to act as a drop-off location for the hard goods. The station is also facilitating the pick up and delivery of these items to local church congregations. For more details on the fundraising effort, visit ktu.com, keyword: HAITI.
