BONNEVILLE Talk KIRO-F (NEWS TALK 97.3 KIRO FM)/SEATTLE names LINDA THOMAS as co-host of the station's "SEATTLE MORNING NEWS" with GREGG HERSHOLT, weekdays 5-9a PT. THOMAS, who has served as a fill-in anchor for KIRO in the past, most recently has been working as a freelance journalist in the SEATTLE area, including for the SEATTLE TIMES and SEATTLEPI.COM, the online successor to the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, and has been posting on TWITTER as "The News Chick." THOMAS fills the slot left open by the NOVEMBER departure of JANE SHANNON, who recently joined crosstown FISHER News KOMO-A-F.
"It’s great to have LINDA joining our team. Her knowledge of the PACIFIC NORTHWEST, her credentials as a journalist and her complete involvement in the social media environment are the attributes we were looking for in selecting our new co-host," said PD ROD ARQUETTE. "LINDA is a very warm and caring person and I think listeners, who already know her work, will enjoy having her back on the air and those who will get to know her will find a real friendly voice to wake up with every morning. GREGG and LINDA will make a great team as we work to clearly establish NEWS TALK 97.3 KIRO FM as the leading source of news and talk in Western WASHINGTON."
"Radio is my first love and I'm excited to return to work with the talented news people at 97.3 KIRO FM," said THOMAS. "Any day that starts with radio, is better than any other day. Even though I'm deeply involved with new media, radio is still the most instant, intimate medium. It's great to be back."
