EMMIIS COMMUNICATIONS Urban AC WRKS (98.7 KISS)/NEW YORK held a special radiothon on MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY in co-operation with THE SALVATION ARMY and raised $76,438.70. This money will go to assist the relief efforts for those affected by the earthquakes and aftershocks which struck HAITI recently.
Morning host DL HUGHLEY led the effort during which listeners were asked to donate any amount, but those who donated $98 or more were treated to special song requests. HUGHLEY said, “First of all, I want to thank our listeners, my KISS-FM family and THE SALVATION ARMY for helping us raise money for HAITI.”
WRKS PD JILL STRADA said, “I cannot think of a better way to spend the MLK Day of service than with our partners from THE SALVATION ARMY. I am proud of my team for making it happen. 98.7 KISS-FM is all about the people and our community.”
