FCC Denies License For Oregon Station

The FCC has revoked the license of MALIN CHRISTIAN CHURCH, INC. for silent KBUG/MALIN, OR, dismissing the station's license-to-cover application and deleting its call letters. The permit was held by an entity of which SANDRA SOHO, later convicted of several felony counts of theft and food stamp fraud and sentenced to 38 months in prison and 30 days in county jail, was the only member; that company was involuntarily dissolved in 2005.
A second version of MCC was formed in 2001 and dissolved in 2009. The Commission ruled that the licensee no longer exists and would not be qualified to hold a license if it did exist. The Commission previously ordered another station operated by SOHO, Oldies KRAT (97.7 THE RAT)/ALTAMONT-KLAMATH FALLS, OR, off the air in a case in which the station's licensee did not know he was the licensee, and SOHO was the actual operator without FCC permission.
In another move by the Commission, two separate $7,000 fines against WENNES COMMUNICATIONS STATIONS, INC. for late license renewal applications at KHPP-A/WAUKON, IA and KVIK/DECORAH, IA were canceled for the same reason that a previous fine against the company's KNEI-F/WAUKON, IA was canceled, that WENNES did file an application on time but accidentally failed to file the proper filing fee with it. The Commission agreed with WENNES that the proper penalty is to accept the application and charge a 25% late fee added to the regular fee amount.
