A consortium of investors' offer to buy VNU, the parent company of BILLBOARD magazine, the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, MEDIAWEEK, and AC NIELSEN, has been accepted by VNU's boards.
The deal by VALCON ACQUISITION INC. is valued at 7.5 billion euros (about $8.9 billion); VALCON is comprised of funds from KOHLBERG KRAVIS ROBERTS, the BLACKSTONE GROUP, THOMAS H. LEE PARTNERS, ALPINVEST PARTNERS, the CARLYLE GROUP, and HELLMAN AND FRIEDMAN. VNU, based in the NETHERLANDS, pulled out of a proposed merger with IMS HEALTH last year.
